Children's Hospital to Use Hypnosis

The Juliana children's hospital in The Hague is to start using hypnosis in an effort to reduce pain, stress and fear among patients, the AD reports on Monday.

Hypnosis will only be used if children and parents agree to the treatment but doctor Madelon Ruige told the paper children are receptive to the idea.

Amsterdam's Slotervaart hospital occasionally uses hypnosis, which led to questions in parliament last year.

The paper says hospital research carried out in 2007 showed that 85% of children with mysterious stomach pains saw their symptoms clear up with hypnosis. But only 25% of children given medicine got better.

Group Hypnosis for Drug Addicts

Here is and excerpt from an interesting article on how hypnosis is helping groups of addicts battle there addiction to drugs.

Drug addiction is one of the most troubling social problems of our times. It is a habit that is really difficult to break from. Even though we have rehabilitation and detox centers that can help treat addicts, another strategy being used to help those with this problem is group hypnosis.

Group hypnosis is not too different from individual hypnosis because the therapist will assist and guide the addicts to the same stages of hypnosis. There is a preparation stage get the addicts ready, induction and deepening to put them in a trance, circulation to impart in their subconscious to stop using illegal drugs and termination so they will be able to wake up from the session with a different state of mind.

Hypnotherapy for Anxiety

As time goes by, more and more people suffer from anxiety disorders and other psychological illnesses due to the fact that the resilience of people when facing seemingly difficult situations has depleted. When these don’t work out, there is a tendency for people to break down in such a way that their physical, emotional and mental well-being gets destructed bad enough to disable them from leading normal lives. And because of this, there are people who resort to anxiety hypnotherapy because they believe that this technique would enable them to remove all their unwanted thoughts in their subconscious mind in order to relieve themselves from any worries or fears. News for Those Attempting to Quit Smoking

Blocking out all thoughts of smoking is not an effective way to quit the habit in the long-term, according to a new study.

Researchers from the University of London studied 85 smokers who smoked more than 10 cigarettes a day. The participants were split into 3 groups, the first was asked to suppress thoughts of smoking entirely, whilst the second group were told to actively talk about their habit. The third group was a control and changed nothing about their quitting strategy.

The study found that the group who suppressed their thoughts smoked less cigarettes at the beginning of the research, but by week three they were on average, smoking three more cigarettes per day than those who were open about their habit.

Hypnosis for Unexplained Infertility

A diagnosis of “unexplained infertility” can generate great feelings of anxiety of couples who want to be parents. Couples can feel helpless and frustrated with this diagnosis, but it really is the best news you can get after medical investigations. It means that there is NO physical reason you can not become parents… so it may be more helpful to look at it this way……
You are NOT infertile (you have the medical proof), you just haven’t conceived YET.

This philosophy is that the body has a natural tendency toward health, and embracing an optimistic outlook supports this rebalancing. Hypnosis is the method of teaching this principle to the mind.

If you wish to discuss this in further detail then please contact me for a free half-hour consultation.

Unhealthy Lifestyle Could Cost You.

The following is taken from William Hobson's article on The Therapy Lounge. To read the article in full please Click Here.

A recently published report has warned that unhealthy people in the UK could be denied free treatments for lifestyle related conditions.

The Daily Mail reports that the report, Visions of Britain 2020, maps out the impact that people who drink and eat too much whilst exercising too little could have on the healthcare system and the economy. Commissioned by Friends Provident and the Future Foundation, the report suggests that treatments such as IVF, dementia treatment and complementary therapies will no longer be free in 2020 with particular penalties accorded to those with unhealthy diets.

The proposal could drive people to help in changing their lifestyle such as hypnotherapy for weight loss, for will power, particularly as it also suggests that obesity surgery and drugs will no longer be paid for by the Health Service by the end of the decade.

The Virtual Gastric Band is the safest form of weight loss therapy. To read more on the benefits of the Virtual Gastric Band Click Here.

Q&A with New York Hypnotist Marc Carlin

I will be taking the Virtual Gastric Band over to the USA later in the year when I hold a training course in New York. I recently held a Q and A session with Marc Carlin from Hypnosis New York: Hypnotic State. To listen to part of the interview please Click Here or watch the video below.

Channel 4 Tonight 9pm: Fighting the Fat

Tonight's edition of the Channel 4 Series: Who Knows Best focuses on weight loss. A Clinical Hypnotherapist with 20 years experience battles it out with a personal trainer to find out who knows best when it comes to fighting the fat.

This is fantastic exposure for the effectiveness of hypnotherapy with weight loss. You will see from previous posts that my trials have been incredibly succesful, seeing people who have been denied surgery or decided against it, losing weight with hypnotherapy.

Perhaps in the future Channel 4 could focus on hypnotherapists vs surgeons, measuring up the success of the surgical operation next to the alternative therapy. I know which method my money would be on.

If you want to watch Who Knows Best: Fighting the Fat online then Click Here to visit the channel 4 site and follow the link to watch the programme on the 4oD Player.

Hypnosis for Skin Conditions

The skin is the interface between our physical self and all that is beyond that self. Because of this our skin is also one of the main areas to which we have an emotional attachment and because skin problems and skin conditions are physically evident they have a distinct psychological component too.

Rashes, reddening, inflamation, soreness and pimples, eczema, pruritus or itching, psoriasis, acne – all are indications that something inside needs readjusting and rebalancing. And this can be and frequently is psychological and emotional in nature. The first thing to do with any persistent skin problem is to visit your doctor to make sure that it is not a symptom of something more serious.

If the medical treatment fails to work then maybe it is time to look towards your psychology. Are you feeling stressed, anxious, angry, guilty, resentful, upset? Might there perhaps be some underlying emotional factor at work here?

Though the skin problem may indeed have its origins in the physical – a viral or bacterial infection, for example – why is it that our own immune system appears to be incapable of dealing with it? When skin problems persist for any length of time and they fail to respond to conventional treatment, then we need to look elsewhere.

We might be wise to at least consider whether the feeling that we have lost control over our skin – of the way we interact and interface with the world – might possibly be an accurate relection of what is actually happening insde. We need to consider whether our skin may be reacting to the way we react to our self – or to our life.

If this is the case, then an excellent way to tackle the problem is through advanced therapeutic hypnotherapy. After all, it is the unconscious mind that controls the autonomic nervous system and the many processes that affect and influence the immune system. And hypnosis works hand in hand with the autonomic nervous system.

With properly applied advanced therapeutic hypnotherapy, once the actual origins of the internal imbalance have been treated and neutralized, the individual is then taught visualisation techniques that can calm and quell the symptoms of such imbalance – the skin problems themselves.

Using the advanced techniques of modern transformational hypnotherapy, the individual’s subconscious mind is helped to re-balance and readjust internal functioning. In expert hands, hypnotherapy can be really effective in gaining relief from many skin problems and skin conditions, including eczema, psoriasis, acne, pruritus and even warts.

Skillfully applied advanced hypnotherapy can greatly assist you, helping you to improve your skin and returning you to your birthright – clear, glowing, problem-free skin with which to greet the world.

If you are suffering with a skin condition then please contact me for a free half-hour consultation.

Celebrities and Hypnosis

As previously mentioned Mel Gibson relies on Hypnotherapy to assist him through times of stress and what with his recent antics stealing the headlines recently. Mel's Hypnotherapist has spoken out about how the treatment benefits the actor. Click Here to read more.

In the last month it has also been reported, rather sensationally I might add, that Peter Andre has been using a hypnotist to help him wipe his memory of his life with former wife Katie Price (Jordan). Andre is perhaps using hypnosis as a means of coping with stress also. To suggest complete memory loss is complete fantasy and probably stems from the imagination of a showbiz journalist.
