A recently published report has warned that unhealthy people in the UK could be denied free treatments for lifestyle related conditions.
The Daily Mail reports that the report, Visions of Britain 2020, maps out the impact that people who drink and eat too much whilst exercising too little could have on the healthcare system and the economy. Commissioned by Friends Provident and the Future Foundation, the report suggests that treatments such as IVF, dementia treatment and complementary therapies will no longer be free in 2020 with particular penalties accorded to those with unhealthy diets.
The proposal could drive people to help in changing their lifestyle such as hypnotherapy for weight loss, for will power, particularly as it also suggests that obesity surgery and drugs will no longer be paid for by the Health Service by the end of the decade.
