Jetting off? Overcome your fear of flying

Have you still got a holiday to look forward to this year?

Left right and centre it seems people are packing their suitcases and jetting off for a much needed dose of sun and sand.

However, there are many people who come to dread holiday season.

A fear of flying is becoming more and more commonplace these days, as long distance travel becomes easier and more accessible. I have spoken to people who say they are so frightened of flying they can’t sleep the night before they fly, and become a nuisance to other passengers with their nervous behaviour.

I have had reports of people spending a small fortune on dubious sounding ‘quick fix’ courses, sleeping tablets to take during the flight, and even missing their holiday altogether out of fear.

Hypnotherapy is an ideal solution to help people overcome their fear of flying. There is nothing unusual or magic about it, really! People are placed into a state of deep relaxation, where they can help themselves to focus and think about a situation that would normally cause fear or anxiety.

This method allows people to face their fear of flying safely, while still in control-people have told me hypnotherapy is a much better option than taking strong medications with side effects, or simply trying to ‘grin and bear it.’ On the day of their flight.

The number of hypnotherapy sessions needed can vary depending on the person, and the level of their phobia. I have seen people have just one session and be able to board a plane the week after with no worries, while for others it can take further sessions until they can face a flight.

If you are interested in finding out how hypnotherapy can help you face your fears, don’t hesitate to drop me a line on my email address or browse my website.

Overcome the fear of flying

If you haven't heard already, I am holding a seminar at Humberside Airport in November. "Driffield Today" have recently written an article, see more below.

Sheila Granger is aiming to eradicate the problem for aerophobes.

Sheila, who is about to embark on a world tour, which will see her deliver talks in countries such as Australia, Canada and the US, is holding seminar at Humberside Airport on November 19 teaching local people the psychological skills to overcome their fears.

Sheila said: “The fear of flying is one of the most common fears in people today so it is something that I feel needs addressing. Thousands of people travel safely via plane every day, but unfortunately it is only the catastrophes that aerophobes remember when it comes to flying.

“The seminar will help to change the way people who suffer from this fear think about flying and give them the confidence to fly without fear.

“This is something that could potentially change someone’s life by simply changing their way of thinking. This could mean they will be able to have their first holiday abroad, or help someone who has to travel for work using a plane, I am urging people to come and seek my support.”

Dentist Decides To Open Another Clinic - For Hypnosis

“Their mouth would be a mess, a disaster”

Odontophobia (fear of visiting a dentist) only effects around 20% of people worldwide. But now Jean Paul Demajo, a maltese dental and implant surgeon has decided to set up a hypnosis clinic as he has come across too many people suffering from this phobia.

Dentist opens new clinic to help his patients' phobia
The idea first came to Dr Demajo when he noticed a few of his patients weren't comfortable in the environment and would rather bear excruciating toothache than going to a clinic.
Worried about people's oral health, Demajo researched further into the phobia, as he might find a way to help his clients. The information explained that no one is born with odontophobia - it is formed with terrible experiences, particularly in childhood.
From his own experience, Demajo says that "this fear is quite common among senior citizens" As back in the 1960's there were work books on how to strap children in the chair whilst dentists worked on them. He then went onto say "Obviously, if you’re a five-year old and you’re tied to a chair, you’re petrified! But now its completely different and we want to show that there is no danger"

However people who are scared of the dentist themselves wouldn't take their children or grandchildren to the dentist because they fear going themselves. These such children would end up going to the dentist for the first time in their adulthood!

As Dr Demajo is a dentist he has no experience or qualifications to hypnotise; so he has asked a local hypnotherapist to help him; overjoyed with the opportunity he mentioned: "It is a great feeling knowing that I am changing people’s lives, it really is".

The aim of the sessions will be to eliminate the phobia; therefore the surrounding will not include dental chairs or any tooth-extraction equipment. This is because Dr Demajo wants the process of overcoming the fear to be steady and successful.

We wish them all the best.
